I am an experienced and Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a dedication to family centered pediatric care. My background is in acute and chronic care management for children.I am passionate about educating parents to be their children’s greatest advocates in addition to preventative medicine improving the long term quality of life of our future adults.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

I went into medicine specifically to work in pediatrics. I was always amazed at the resilience of children and loved the idea of approaching medical care from a holistic, family centered point of view. Children are not just small adults. Their medical care is much more specialized and precise. Everything you do to care for them has to be adjusted based on their age, understanding, development stage, and mental health status. To complicate things further, you are not just caring for the child; you have their parents, siblings, guardians, and even pets to consider when making decisions. It is not just the quality of the life of the child, it is also that of the family. I came to understand this all after a few years working in pediatrics. But it was not until I became a mother myself that I could see the gaps in pediatric healthcare. Our current practices are severely lacking in preventative care. The proof is right in front of us and yet there are no advances in improving the long term well being and quality of life for our children. So now, as an experienced nurse practitioner and mother of two, I continue in pediatrics to change healthcare. This field has the potential for innovation, advancing technology, and literal life changing impacts. Assured Pediatrics will do just that.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Over 20 years I worked on an ambulance or fire engine, as an EMT and paramedic. I saw children and families at their most vulnerable and greatest time of need. Oftentimes the emergencies were just that, an unpreventable accident. But others, I thought with the right medical care and timely intervention, the emergency was preventable. And as I worked in the hospital, in the ER, I saw daily the struggles parents went through to try to access and pay for this preventative care.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

After time, I became a registered nurse and worked as both a paramedic and RN, spending time in the field and hospital, splitting duties. When my daughter was born with epilepsy, my wife and I became ardent advocates for her, seeing that she received the care she needed to overcome and grow. The system worked but with our heavy advocacy. With my combined experience as a clinician and parent, one with a neurodivergent child, I became convinced that with the right team, together we could change the outcomes for children everywhere. We have amazing new medicine with new technology being developed. We needed a new way to get these advances to children that needed it, which in reality, is all children. Together we have founded Assured Pediatrics. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
